I use avisynth for that, but I'm sure there are other methods if you search. Conforming the file won't work in this case. Were going to talk about what it means to shoot footage at a higher frame rate, and were going to look at it particularly in the iPhone, but well also talk about some other camera stuff. Then sync the audio with FCPX's 'Synchronise Clips' command. When you import an audio clip it recognises the project frame rate and sets the audio to that frame rate. The process in FCPX works exactly the same with audio (but then most editing programs work in this way).
When you import 24p footage in, it will be wrapped in a 30i container, so you need pulldown removal or IVTC. Conform Frame Rates In FCPX - Macbreak Studio. You have to conform the file to progressive by right clicking the clip in the bin, and use "interpret footage" conform to no fields (progressive).
Canon wraps their footage in a special container that signals (incorrectly) interlaced to the NLE. In addition, hard limits in the codec restrict H.264 to 4K frame sizes, and HEVC lifts that restriction, allowing for videos up to 8K. When you import 30p footage in, it will be 30p only if you have the correct settings. As 4k video becomes increasingly common, data rates in H.264 are simply too high for many applications, requiring the move to a new, more efficient codec. If you want to bob-deinterlace to 60p, you can preprocess it first with avisynth, and use 60p for project settings. It needs to reconstruct the frames from the fields in order for you to edit (otherwise you will see combing), so it essentially deinterlaces it for you in the program monitor for editing, but the project is still 30i. If you used a preset like AVCHD for your project settings, it would automatically be top field first. When you import 30i footage into PP, it will separate the fields and assume field order according to the interpretation properties. 60i is really 30i (30 frames/s or 60 fields/s), and I'll call use that terminology here: LCD monitor capable of capturing edit-ready Apple ProRes files in a range of video formats and frame rates up to 4K 60p.
